LOWEREING SPEED LIMITS ON TOWN ROADS
ORDINANCE NO. 2026-04
AMENDMENT OF 2017-01
SECTION 1 – Purpose
This Ordinance is entitled “Town of Hunter Traffic Ordinance”. The purpose is to regulate the speed limit of vehicular traffic on all town roads within the limits of the Town of Hunter.
SECTION 2 – Authority
The Town Board of the Town of Hunter has the specific statutory authority, powers and duties under §349.11, Wis. Statutes, to adopt this ordinance.
SECTION 3 – Adoption
This ordinance, adopted by a majority of the town board on a roll call vote with a quorum present and voting and proper notice having been given, provides for the reduction of the speed limits on certain town roads in the town as follows:
Pursuant to §349.11, Wis. Statutes, speed limits on certain Town of Hunter town roads are reduced or modified as follows:
- a) The Town of Hunter establishes, by this ordinance, in compliance with Chapters 346.57 and 349.11, Wis. Stats, a speed limit of 35 miles per hour on the following town roads within the Town of Hunter, except in those locations where posted otherwise:
Buckhorn Road
Dam Road
Jasek Road
Kelsey Road
River Road
Sandy Point Road
Tiger Musky Road (1.7 miles)
Twin Bay Road (.5 miles)
Worlds End Road
- b) The Town of Hunter establishes, by this ordinance, in compliance with Chapters 346.57 and 349.11, Wis. Stats, a speed limit of 25 miles per hour on the following town roads within the Town of Hunter, except in those locations where posted otherwise:
Beaver Creek Road Lampe Road
Big Musky Road Lesniak Road
Blueberry Lake Road Oak Road
Campfire Circle Odell Road
Clements Road Pine Knoll Road
Conger Road Pines Road
Conner Lane Reed Lake Road
Dun Rovin Road Tiger Musky Road (.9 miles)
Fawn Trail Twin Bay Road (.96 miles)
Fiorelli Road Warner Drive
Fletcher Road Woodland Drive
Flowage Road
Gardner Road
Hay Creek Road
Helsing Road
John Street
- c) The Town of Hunter establishes, by this ordinance, in compliance with Chapters 346.57 and 349.11, Wis. Stats, a speed limit of 15 miles per hour on the following town roads within the Town of Hunter, except in those locations where posted otherwise:
Deerfoot Road
Johnson Road
Margaret Street
Toutant Road
Treeland Road
SECTION 4 – General Provisions
Pursuant to §349.11(5), Wis. Statutes, the Town chairperson, or his or her designee, shall place appropriate traffic signs at the above-described locations.
No person may operate any vehicle on the above-noted town roads in violation of the above-noted sped limits. Any violation shall be subject to penalties under §346.60, Wis. Statutes.
Any future amendments, modifications, revisions, additions or deletions of the above noted statutory Chapters shall be incorporated herein and made part of this ordinance in
SECTION 5 – Effective Date
This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication or posting as provided by law.
