ZONING:
A Conditional Use Application for DAVID TOCZEK to operate a 2 unit “resort” in a RR-1 zone district was presented. David attended via Teleconference and spoke on several issues. Doug Kurtzweil pointed out the language in the County Zoning ordinance Section 2 of the definitions that states a multi-dwelling development is 3 or more dwelling units and Dave Toczek only has 2 units and does not qualify for a Conditional Use Permit per the County Zoning Ordinance 17.2(b)(15).
The Comprehensive Planning Commission Board met on Monday June 8, 2026 on this application and they denied it. Kyle Cummings felt the Board should follow the Comprehensive Board decision.
MOTION: Moved by Cummings; 2nd by LeBlanc to deny the Conditional Use Application for Dave Toczek to operate a 2-unit “resort” in a RR-1 zone district; motion carried on a 2-1 vote.
Reasons for the denial are that Sawyer County Zoning needs to fix the discrepancy of 2 dwelling units on a lot and the Comprehensive Planning Commission felt this should have been a Variance Application not a Conditional Use Application.
