MONTHLY BOARD MEETING – December 14, 2016

Chair Laura Rusk called the Board of Supervisors meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; all members present. The minutes of the November 9, 2016 Board meeting were approved as presented by Kay Ryan; 2nd Jim Dier; motion carried.

The Treasures report was approved as presented by Kay Ryan; 2nd Jim Dier; motion carried

ROAD REPORT – finished brushing town roads.  Trained new part time employee and got all equipment ready for winter operations.  Plowed town roads twice and spread salt/sand multiple times.

COUDERAY FIRE DEPARTMENT sent a contract to cover the territory that LCO was supposed to cover.  Laura Rusk made a motion to approve the Couderay Fire Contract contingent on updating the service area wording; 2nd Kay Ryan; motion carried.  Couderay would cover Township 39N, Range 7W, Section 1-6; Township 40N, Range 6W, Section 30-34; Township 40N, Range 7W, Section 24-29 and 31-36.  Worlds End Road and Osprey Road will now be covered by the Round Lake Fire Department.

A Journalist by the name of Harvey Wasserman has requested all the Clerks in the State of Wisconsin send him 64 ITEMS FROM THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.  Some of them are a copy of our poll book, absentee ballot log, inspector statements, etc.  The Wisconsin Election Commission will be looking into this matter once the recount is complete and advised the clerks not to do anything right now.  They suggested sending him an email acknowledging receipt of the request.  Our Attorney suggested we request a prepayment fee before doing any of the work.  Jim Dier made a motion with a 2nd by Kay Ryan to ask Harvey Wasserman to prepay $2,500 and that there will also be a $.50 per copy fee with a final cost to be determined; motion carried.

The Clerk reported that we are required to create an ELECTION DAY EMERGENCY PLAN to provide a guidance for emergency operations during Election Day activities.   The Board suggested Treland Resorts as a safe place to relocate if the need should arise.  The Clerk will contact Treland’s for permission.

In order to include salary increases for the Board in 2017 the 2017 BUDGET WAS AMENDED.  Laura Rusk made a motion to increase Board salaries by $3,369 and reduce the highway and street construction account by $3,369; 2nd Kay Ryan; motion carried

Laura Rusk mentioned that Tim Anderson suggested making new signs that will show what items are recyclable.

The Board decided to change the START OF THE MONTHLY BOARD MEETINGS TO 5:00.  This item will be approved at the January Meeting.

Kay Ryan made a motion to APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS AND PAYROLL for checks #16253 to #16263 & electronic payments from 11/10/2016 to 12/14/2016 for a total expenditure of $13,266.12; 2nd Jim Dier; motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m. on a motion from Kay Ryan; 2nd Jim Dier; motion carried.
